Pumpkin Ravioli!

Oh wow. I am good. I mean really good!

I've been obsessing over making pumpkin treats and I thought I would give a go at making something with pumpkin that was on the savory side. I was going to make my own pasta, but I couldn't find an affordable pasta maker. I read online that wonton wrappers were a decent substitute, so I tried them, and while they have a different texture than pasta, they are SO DELICIOUS! Wonton wrappers can be found at your local grocery store (I found mine with the tofu) and they were surprisingly inexpensive (about $2.50 for a pack of 50-something wrappers!)

There are so many great things about making pumpkin ravioli. The total cost is under $10, they are stupid simple to make, stuffing the wrappers is a great activity for children to help with AND there are an infinite number of sauces that marry well with these joy bundles!

Pumpkin Truffles

I have a love hate relationship with fall. On one hand, it's gorgeous (depending where in the US you live) and squash and other fall flavors are readily available at the store. On the other hand, my skin gets dry, I'm always thirsty and my allergies go insane.

I came across this recipe on Pinterest and decided I had to make them. The original pinner's site is http://lillyella.blogspot.com/  I did change a few things from her version, reducing sugar and adding more pumpkin and orange zest, but hers are also delicious.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies (CCCC)

CHEWY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Such a simple and familiar dessert. Too bad most people have never had an exceptional cookie. A great chocolate chip cookie is chewy, gooey and a little messy. A BAD cookie is cake-like or dry or burnt or a weird looking blob stuck to a cookie sheet.

The secret to these cookies? Melted butter cooled to room temperature. I've found that if the butter is added at room temperature, the cookies little muffin tops. Before I start making the cookies, I melt the butter in the microwave for about 20 seconds, stir and put it in for another 10. Keep doing that until all the butter is melted then stick your bowl or mug of butter into the freezer so it has a wee chance to cool down, but not harden.

Welcome!

Welcome to Fatty Fatty No Friends!

Before you start making judgements about the blog name, let me tell you the story behind it.

First, I have NOTHING against people with junk in their trunk, I'm one of them!

The name came about when a girl friend and I spent an entire summer locked in our apartment baking goodies. We didn't hang out with our other friends and they told us that if we kept baking, we would have no friends! They were joking of course, but because we kept baking, and eating, we gained a few pounds and we called ourselves fatties.  Thus, the saying fatty fatty no friends became a phrase we used often. Usually when we ate large quantities of non-nutritious food by ourselves.

Now that you know the story, I hope you will reap all the benefits of my poor eating habits and baking addiction!
